2) Schools can't afford to give things away [by Anonymous Citizen on February 15, 2008] I went to a school auction a few years ago and they had dozens of new laptop briefcases, still in wrappers that they sold for $1 to $5 each. There were a number of brand new items being sold. Schools need to understand they are a business. Unless they can get a receipt for a donated amount, they can't afford to just give things away. That's why schools are always begging for money. Reply
