Introduced by Sen. Katie Stine (R) on January 6, 2009, to require all public preschool through eighth grade programs to include 30 minutes per day or 150 minutes per week of "moderate-to-vigorous physical activity" and require schools to report on student physical activities. This bill specifies that this program will start no later than the 2008-09 school year.
1) Are you kidding me? [by Anonymous Citizen on June 23, 2008] Children (and adults included)need physical
activity. Kentucky is ranked as one of the states
with the highest obesity rates not to mention the other related health problems.I really don't think
30 minutes a day is asking too much!
2) missed fourtune [by 3cotton3 on June 21, 2008] this sounds good, but where do you get the people to run this program? how much added work will this produce for the people running this program?
will the school have to have a EMS rep. on site in case some child has a problem? who will handle the wave of parents who do not want their child to be exposed to this program?
have you spoken with anyone in the school systems about this program? Reply
